Bulbophyllum reclusum Seidenfaden (1995a: 47) View in CoL , Newman et al. (2007: 256), Gale et al. (2018: 77).

( Fig. 2F–I View FIGURE 2 )

Type: — THAILAND. Sakon Nakhon Province: Phu Phan National Park, Kham Hom waterfalls, Thaitong 1427 (holotype C).

Habitat and phenology in Vietnam: —Creeping epiphyte. Lowland evergreen broad-leaved forests. Rare. Flowers in November–December.

Distribution: — Vietnam: provinces Dak Lak (sine loc.) and Lam Dong (Bao Loc District). Myanmar?, Thailand, Laos.

Conservation status in Vietnam: — Bulbophyllum reclusum is known to be represented in the country by two or three localities. The available data on its Vietnamese populations are very scarce, and comprehensive field investigations are required. Accordingly, we estimate the national conservation status of the species as Data Deficient (DD).

Notes: — Bulbophyllum reclusum is reported here as a new record for the flora of Vietnam. The morphological traits of the Vietnamese plants studied here almost perfectly match those shown in the comprehensive description and photos included in the species protologue ( Seidenfaden 1995a). Prior to our study, this species was known only from its locus classicus in NE Thailand near the border with Laos, and from two published records from Laos without indications of geographical location ( Newman et al. 2007, Gale et al. 2018). The discovery of this species in southern Vietnam essentially expands its known distribution area in the southeast direction. Records of B. reclusum from Myanmar (cited by Tanaka et al. 2011, 2015, Aung et al. 2020) up to now remain doubtful (see Schuiteman et al. 2008, Ormerod et al. 2021).
