Gynapteromyia carpatica Mamaev, 1965 View in CoL
Gynapteromyia carpatica View in CoL —Mamaev in Mamaev & Krivosheina 1965: 266, figs 41–42; Mamaev 1966: 218, fig. 2.1.
The description of G. carpatica in Mamaev & Krivosheina (1965) View in CoL focused on larval characters; adults were briefly described by Mamaev (1966). The only adult illustration published for G. c a r p a t i c a refers to the head in lateral view ( Mamaev 1966: fig. 2.1). A few years ago I was able to study the male holotype of this species, and from my notes and a sketch of the genitalia made at that time I now realize that G. c a r p a t i c a must be regarded as conspecific with the species of the Haplusia brevipalpis View in CoL group of Jaschhof & Jaschhof (2013) as well as with other, similar species (unnamed or named here) from different parts of the world. Gynapteromyia carpatica View in CoL is the only species whose scape is smaller than the pedicel ( Mamaev 1966: fig. 2.1) and the only species in Europe with singlesegmented palpi. The tegmen of G. carpatica View in CoL is somewhat unusual in having small, rounded membranous protuberances apicolaterally, similar to the tegmen in an unnamed Gynapteromyia View in CoL from Japan.
