TYPE SPECIES. — Electroxylomyia eocenica n. sp. by present designation.

ETYMOLOGY. — After Electron and recent genus Cryptoxylomyia .

DIAGNOSIS. — Ocelli absent, eleven flagellomeres in both male and female, no band-shaped or digitate, horseshoeshaped, star-like or fan-like sensorium on flagellomeres, palpus very strongly reduced, not visible, absent or with only one segment, tarsomere 1 much shorter than 2, fifth tarsal segment only slightly longer as fourth, without sensorial bristles on the ventral surface, vein A2 absent, R with only two branches, R5 as strong as other veins, C continuing around wing, M1+2 absent, CuA simple, female cercus two-segmented.
