Holotype. Female ( NHMUK), Chile, Straits of Magellan , Port Famine.

Distribution. Argentina: Neuquén Province (no precise locality); Río Negro Province (San Carlos de Bariloche). Chile: Región de La Araucanía: Malleco Province (Termas de Tolhuaca), Cautín Province (Los Paragüas); Región de Los Lagos: Osorno Province (Lago Puyehue, National Park Puyehue); Región de Aysén: Aysén Province (Cochrane); Región de Magallanes y la Antártica Chilena: Última Esperanza Province (Dos Lagunas, Isla Piazzi), Magallanes Province (Estancia Otway, Puerto Hambre, Punta Arenas), Tierra del Fuego Province (Cameron, Estancia Vicuña), Antártica Chilena Province (Isla Navarino, Puerto Williams).

Remarks. F. Walker (1837) noted in the original description that the holotype is a male. G.C. Steyskal examined the type in the NHMUK (No. 63.43) ( Steyskal 1966: 445) and confirmed that it is a female. He wrote, “The type female agrees well with Malloch’s description, but the exact identity will not be known until a description of the postabdomen of conspecific males can be made. The species should be known as Pherbellia fulvipennis (Walker) , new combination.”
