Distribution. Widely distributed in large parts of Europe. In Russia only recorded from the S Urals ( Ponomarenko 2008). Povolný (2002) recorded S. samadensis from Orenburg, but wrongly stated it to be in the Caucasus instead of in the Urals.

Remarks. Most of the examined specimens from the Urals belong to the form with rather plain coloured light brown forewings.
