Syringophilopsis fringillae ( Fritsch, 1958)

This species was described from Fringilla coelebs Linnaeus ( Passeriformes : Fringillidae ) from Germany ( Fritsch 1958). Fritsch (1958) also reported this species from Carduelis carduelis (Linnaeus) (Fringillidae) , Passer montanus (Passeridae) , and Hirundo rustica (Hirundinidae) , all from Germany. Unfortunately, all Fritsch’s material is lost ( Kethley 1970). Later on, S. fringillae was reported from the type host from England ( Kethley 1970; Nattress & Skoracki 2009), Poland ( Skoracki 2004b), and Russia ( Bochkov & Mironov 1998). Kethley (1970) reported this species from Carduelis carduelis (Fringillidae) from Morocco. In Kazakhstan, this species was recorded from the type host.

Material examined. 5 females and 1 male ( AVB 07-2010-009) from Fringilla coelebs Linnaeus ( Passeriformes : Fringillidae ); KAZAKHSTAN: Ongtustik Qazaqstan, Chockpak Ornithological Station, 1134m, 42°30'45.2''N, 70°35'46.2''E, 20 October 2007, coll. A. Bochkov.
