Podothrips femoralis Dang & Qiao

Podothrips femoralis Dang & Qiao , in Dang, Zhao, Wang & Qiao 2019: 43 .

This species was described from Yunnan, China, based on four females, but unfortunately these were not available for this study. According to the original description, this species is very similar in appearance to P. asiaticus sp. nov., P. bellatulus from Thailand and P. taiwanus sp. nov. from Taiwan, although the authors originally compared it with P. sasacola from Japan. From asiaticus and taiwanus , femoralis can be distinguished by the prothoracic posteroangular setae expanded and the metathorax largely brown. From bellatulus , femoralis can be distinguished by antennal segment IV with (1+1 +1) sense cones, the metathorax largely brown and the prothoracic posteroangular setae expanded. P. bicolor is also similar to this species in having antennal segment IV with (1+1 +1) sense cones, but has the fore femora largely yellow.
