This species seasonally occur in Klang Straits, Selangor in relatively low abundance. It is non-edible and considered a nuisance to fishing activity. The species was also commonly found in Teluk Bahang, Penang and Muar on the west coast, and Bachok and Pulau Tinggi on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia.
