Anthobaris rugosicollis Hustache View in CoL
( Figs. 4–7 View FIGURES 4–7 )
Anthobaris rugosicollis Hustache, 1951: 54 View in CoL
Diagnosis. Anthobaris rugosicollis and A. comptior can be distinguished from A. affabra by erect setae, undeveloped elytral callosity, and ventrodistally acuminate fifth tarsomere. Anthobaris rugosicollis is smaller than A. comptior (3.9–5.6 mm vs. 6.9 mm), has the sutural interstriae raised and some white setae on elytral base and pronotum. The color is blackish with slight brazen sheen while A. comptior has a brassy tinge. The penis (this is the only species with known males) has basally fused apodemes, a long flagellum, and a tegmen with wide basal apodeme ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 4–7 ).
Notes. Anthobaris rugosicollis is the type species for Anthobaris by original designation. The type status of the specimen in MACN (Bachmann & Lanteri 2013) remains doubtful as long as it cannot be demonstrated that it was among the material submitted to Hustache. I consider all specimens without Hustache’s handwritten identification as Bruch’s retained vouchers.
