Nemertopsis Bürger, 1895: 548 . Type species: Nemertes peronea Quatrefages, 1846 View in CoL , synonymized with Polia bivittata Delle Chiaje, 1841 by Bürger (1904: 26), subsequently designated as the type species by Friedrich (1955: 173).

Nomenclatural remarks: The generic name Nemertopsis Bürger, 1895 has the subjective senior synonym, Colpocephalus Diesing, 1850 . However, the usage of the name meets the conditions stipulated in Article 23.9.1 of the Code (ICZN 1999). According to Article 23.9.2 of the Code (ICZN 1999), the name Nemertopsis is regarded as having precedence over Colpocephalus whenever the two names are used as synonymous ( Kajihara 2007).
