Scaphoideus hieroglyphicus Distant, 1918: 65 View in CoL – 66.
Mimotettix hieroglyphicus (Distant) View in CoL ; Webb & Heller, 1990: 7.
Material examined. India, 5Ƥ (1Ƥ, syntype of Scaphoideus hieroglyphicus Distant ), Nandidrug, T.V. Campbell ( BMNH) (see Remarks below).
Remarks. The identity of this species is uncertain as it is known only from the five females listed above. Only one of the examined specimens bears a museum type disc but the remaining specimens could also be syntypes as they bear similar data labels. The species are labelled in the following manner: 1Ƥ (syntype) ‘Nandidrug, S. India T.V. Campbell’ (original handwritten label), ‘N.D. 9. 15 58 8 ’ hand written under the specimen mount; 4Ƥ: ‘S. India, Mysore, Nandidrug, T.V. Campbell’ (modern printed label), ‘N.D. 10. 16’ (3Ƥ) and ‘N.D. 7.18’ (1Ƥ) hand written under the specimen mounts.
Distribution. India (Madras) ( Fig.16 View FIGURE 16 ).
