Neocecidothrips Bagnall, 1929: 186 View in CoL . Type species Eothrips bursariae Moulton View in CoL by monotypy.
This genus was distinguished from Teuchothrips View in CoL by Bagnall because of “the form of the antennae which have the intermediate joints much as in other gall-making genera”. The two species now recognised in Neocecidothrips View in CoL differ from the other members of the Teuchothrips View in CoL complex in having two major sensoria on both the third and fourth antennal segments ( Fig. 26 View FIGURES 23 – 28 ), and in having the glandular area of males on the posterior half of the eighth abdominal sternite ( Fig. 28 View FIGURES 23 – 28 ), rather than the anterior half.
