6. Merge Tiaris bicolor (Linnaeus, 1766) into Melanospiza Ridgway, 1897

(type = Loxigilla richardsoni Cory, 1886 , currently Melanospiza richardsoni ) ( Fig. 2 ).

Both M. richardsoni and M. bicolor share pink feet and legs and overall dark plumage without facial markings.
