Specimens examined: — COLOMBIA. SANTANDER: Tona; Río Agua Blanca, prepared from Simulium sp. Larvae, D. Baron, COL2–Tr3, Tr5; Piedecuesta; Río El Rasgón, prepared from Simulium sp. Larvae, D. Baron, COL10–Tr31; Floridablanca; Río Tarrarra, prepared from Simulium sp. larvae, D. Baron, COL14-Tr43.
Comments: — P. chattoni has an unbranched, non-septate thallus, multinucleate at maturity, commonly arched in young forms (Valle 2014). Colombian specimens measured 81–876 × 7.3–11.5 μm, with a cylindrical or slightly campanulate holdfast measuring 4.5–8 μm diameter, attached to hindgut lining of Simuliidae larvae and smaller in diameter than the corresponding thallus. Specimens were probably slightly immature. We observed neither cysts nor cytospores.
