Specimens examined: — COLOMBIA. SANTANDER: Berlin ; Río El Cardal , prepared from Chironomidae larvae, D. Baron, COL15 About COL –Tr46 .
Comments: — Stachylina penetralis was described from material collected from France, Switzerland and Japan ( Lichtwardt 1984). It has been reported from Spain ( Valle 2007), Canada ( Strongman & White 2008), and Argentina (Siri & López-Lastra 2010). The thallus of St. penetralis is attached to peritrophic matrix that lines the midgut by a bulbous holdfast. Our specimens, had trichospores measuring 29–33 × 6.5–7.3 μm on generative cells measuring 7–8.5 × 5–6 μm. Thalli 65–110 μm long, with a bulbous base 2.8–8.9 μm. Only one specimen was found.
