Nyctiophylax (Paranyctiophylax) africanus View in CoL , new species group
Species in this group are characterized by possessing less elongated, triangularly bilobed, and V-shaped gonopods. In addition, the ventral lobe of each gonopod is usually short and, in most species, each gonopod has only a ventral paraproctal process, although a dorsal paraproctal process is present in a few Oriental species.
This species group is primarily distributed in the Afrotropical Region, with a few species in the Oriental Region. The following 15 species are classified in this group: N. adaequatus Wang and Yang ( China: Henan), N. africanus Kimmins ( Uganda) , N. anosib Oláh and Johanson ( Madagascar) , N. aristaios Malicky ( Thailand) , N. armigera Jacquemart ( Congo) , N. aurorae Gibon ( Ghana) , N. brenguesi Gibon ( Ghana) , N. cascadensis Malicky ( Vietnam) , N. cornifera Gibon (Ivory Cost) , N. kilah Oláh and Johanson ( Madagascar) , N. mentor Malicky and Chantaramongkol ( Thailand) , N. meridionalis Marlier ( Angola) , N. mintin Oláh and Johanson ( Vietnam) , N. nahum Malicky and Chantaramongkol ( Thailand) , and N. orientalis Marlier ( Congo) .
