Cicada nigrans Distant 1904c: 673 View in CoL . (Fort Dauphin, southern Madagascar)
Remarks.—A piceous species marked with testaceous with a body length of 27 mm and a wingspan of 75–78 mm ( Distant 1904c). The primarily piceous body with the fore wing infuscation on the radial, radiomedial, and medial crossveins and the distal veins between the apical cells quickly distinguish the species.
Distribution.—The species is known only from Madagascar ( Metcalf 1963a; Sanborn 2013). Distant (1904c) and Jacobi (1917) reported the species from Fort Dauphin, southern Madagascar
