Platypleura angusta Butler 1882: 389 View in CoL . (Antananarivo, Madagascar)

Remarks.—Sanborn (2020) recently removed the species from junior synonym status. It is one of two species of the genus with a body length less than 37 mm and a wingspan less than 100 mm. It can be distinguished from P. madagascarensis ( Distant, 1879) by the pronotum width being about 14 mm, the anterior angles of the pronotum are almost rectangular, there are lateral fasciae on the mesonotum, the abdominal tergites are piceous, the opercula lack a broad piceous margin, and the external margin of the hind wings is piceous.

Distribution.—The species is only known from Madagascar ( Metcalf 1963a; Duffels & van der Laan 1985; Sanborn 2013; 2020). Butler reported the species from Antananarivo.
