Ligymolpa Karsch 1890: 122 View in CoL .
Type species.— Ligymolpa madegassa Karsch 1890: 122 . ( Western Madagascar) .
Remarks.—A monospecific genus characterized by a small species with the head about as wide as the mesonotum, the transverse anterior postclypeus extending slightly beyond the supra-antennal plates, central sulcus extending onto small dorsal surface but not reaching frontoclypeal suture, anterior pronotal margin narrowed, lateral pronotal collar narrowing anteriorly, angled ventrally, fore wing basal cell narrow, more than twice as long as wide, ulnar cells 1 and 2 short, ulnar cell 2 about half the length of ulnar cell 1, hind wing anal lobe proportionately large, anal cell 2 extending beyond hind wing margin, posterior timbal cavity formed by transversely flattening male abdominal tergite 2, pygofer distal shoulder well developed forming finger-like extensions on either side of uncus, male opercula with posterolateral margin angled mediad, not meeting medially or covering tympanal cavity (modified from Karsch 1890). Karsch (1890) describes the generic characters as a combination of Malagasia (which now would include Anopercalna ) and Abroma with the distal shoulder development of the pygofer as a unique feature.
Distribution.—The genus is restricted to Madagascar ( Metcalf 1963a).
