Blapstinus striatulus Mulsant and Rey, 1859 , incertae sedis
Blapstinus striatulus Mulsant and Rey 1859: 119, 1860: 183 (type locality “Les Antilles?”); Leng and Mutchler 1914: 461 (Antilles); Gebien 1938: 405 [442] (Antilles); Chalumeau 1982: 192 ( Saint Barthélemy); Marcuzzi 1984: 81 (in part, Saint Barthélemy records only); Peck 2011a: 33 (in part, Saint Barthélemy records only) 2016: 159 (in part, Saint Barthélemy records only); Soldati and Touroult 2014: 98 ( Saint Barthélemy).
Diastolinus striatulus ; Marcuzzi 1988: 74 (no locality).
Remarks. This name is probably based on one or more specimens from Saint Barthélemy. The true identity of this species is unknown to us. Chalumeau (1982) reports the type is in the MNHN, and that Ardoin compared it to specimens from Saint Barthélemy in assigning that name to Chalumeau’ s specimens. Soldati and Touroult (2014) repeat Chalumeau’ s record without citing further specimens, but say it is common in sand at the back of the beach. The recorded provenance of the type, “Les Antilles?” does not exclude a Saint Barthélemy origin.
Wolcott’ s (1951) usage, following Blackwelder (1945), as well as Marcuzzi’ s (1957, 1984, 1988) use of this name for records from Puerto Rico, refers to B. punctatus (see above).
