ORDER POLYDESMIDA View in CoL
Family PARADOXOSOMATIDAE Daday, 1889 View in CoL
Genus Vietnamorpha Golovatch, 1984 View in CoL
Vietnamorpha Golovatch, 1984: 54–55 View in CoL ; Enghoff et al., 2004: 41
Type species
Vietnamorpha spiralis Golovatch, 1984 View in CoL , by original designation.
Diagnosis
The genus can be distinguished from other paradoxosomatid genera by a combination of the following characters: body submoniliform; paraterga strongly reduced or totally missing; legs long; pleurosternal carinae present; sterna having four setiferous spines next to each coxa; 4 th and 5 th sterna with modifications.
Gonopod simple, erect. Femorite long, cylindrically slender, with a distal small spine. Solenomere and solenophore strongly spiral or coiled. Solenomere partly or completely sheathed by solenophore. Both lamina medialis and lamina lateralis well developed. Seminal groove running entirely mesally on femorite.
Remarks
The genus consists of only two species, V. spiralis Golovatch, 1984 from northern Vietnam, and V. pumatensis sp. nov. from Nghe An Province.
