Diagnosis. Halichondriidae with massive, fragile or globose shape, consistency is soggy or firm. Detachable tangential ectosomal skeleton of intercrossing bundles of spicules and choanosomal skeleton confuse or trabecular with thick spicule tracts. Spicules are oxeas (in two size categories) and styles. (modified from Erpenbeck & van Soest 2002).
