Saccharodite nervosa Zelazny , sp. nov.

Description. Forewings 2.1 times longer than wide, length: male about 4.0 mm, female 4.1–4.9 mm (mean = 4.6, n = 4). Colour stramineous to light brown. Forewings white, powdered; bands of light infuscation from apex of Cu to base of Ms1, from base of Ms2 to Sc+R fork, and along apical crossveins; veins mostly light brown, some stramineous, no orange sections on costal margin; 4 dark spots on base of Sc+R. Hindwings colourless. In profile junction of vertex and face rounded; subantennal processes not connected to margins of facial carinae; rostrum slightly surpassing hind coxae. Forewings with Sc+R fork before middle of wing; basal median cell slightly broader than basal cell between Sc+R and M; a triangle at base of Ms1. Male genitalia with pygofer narrow. Genital styles oval; proximal dorsal process short and slender, its tip pointed and curved inwards, distal dorsal process long. Apical part of aedeagus short, without processes or lobes.

Etymology. The species name is a Latin adjective (nervosus, -a, -um = with nerves or tendons).

Distribution. New Guinea.

Diagnosis. Saccharodite nervosa resembles closely Sa. modesta sp. nov., also from New Guinea. However, it has darker infuscation on the forewings, usually darker forewing veins, and no orange-red sections on the costal margin.
