Etymology. The species is named for Zeno Payne Metcalf (1885-1956), who made important contributions to the knowledge of the Auchenorrhyncha, and ' metcalfi ' is a latinized noun used in the genitive case.
Type material. Holotype ♂, PHILIPPINES, Mindanao I., Davao City , IX.1978, off coconut palm, B. Zelazny ( BPBM, # 11,945).
Distribution. Philippines (Mindanao Island).
