Genital styles oval; proximal dorsal process wide, the short, pointed tip curved inwards; distal dorsal process long and slender. Stem of aedeagus swollen in apical half; apical portion of aedeagus short and narrow with a dorsal, longitudinal groove, lacking any processes or lobes.
Etymology. The species name is a Latin adjective (saucius, -a, -um = wounded).
Type material. Holotype ♂ (forewing 3.9 mm), EAST MALAYSIA: NORTH BORNEO: SABAH; labels: 1) BRITISH N. BORNEO / Tawau, Quoin Hill / 15–20.VII.1962 2) H. Holtmann / Malaise Trap / BISHOP ( BPBM) . Paratype. EAST MALAYSIA: NORTH BORNEO: SABAH: Tawau, Quoin Hill , Cocoa Res. Stn., 3.IX.1962, 1 ♂, light trap, Y. Hirashima ( BPBM) .
Distribution. North Borneo.
Diagnosis. Saccharodite saucia is related to the large group of Saccharodite species which have in profile a slightly angulated junction of vertex and face, broad forewings (with a broad basal median cell), and a broad proximal dorsal process on the male genital styles (e.g. Sa. kagoshimana (Matsumura) or Sa. imperiali Zelazny , both also found in Borneo). It is characterized by the red stripe across the scutellum base and by the very simple apical portion of the male aedeagus.
