Description. Forewings 2.3 times longer than wide, length in male about 3.7 mm. Colour stramineous to light orange; brightly orange along margins of facial carinae, hind margin of pronotum, and on fore tibiae. Forewings lightly and uniformly infuscated; a small, dark conspicuous mark at M-Ms4 fork; veins light orange-brown, margins orange-red. Hindwings colourless with light orange-brown veins. Rostrum clearly surpassing post-trochanter. Forewings with Sc+R fork near base of first subcostal sector and well before middle of wing; Cu1 and Ms1 well separated, connected by a cross-vein; branching point of Ms1 well separated from apex of basal median cell; base of Ms1a angulated and connected to M by a cross-vein. Hindwings with apex of R not branched. Male pygofer with pointed lateral projections. Genital styles elongated and rounded; proximal dorsal process short, distal dorsal process elongated; a short hump between both. Apical part of male aedeagus flat and slightly turned ventrad; a dorsal lobe on the right side.
Etymology. The species name is a Latin adjective ( rufomarginatus , -a, -um = with red margins).
Type material. Holotype ♂ (forewing 3.7 mm), NORTH BORNEO: BRUNEI; labels: 1) Brunei, Labi / Bukit Teraja / 30km S.E. of Seria / 21–28.iii.1979 2) Primary mixed/dipterocarp/forest, alt. 60m. 3) light trap 2/ 50m. above ground/ L. Sutton /B.M. 1985-50 ( BMNH).
Distribution. North Borneo.
Diagnosis. Muiralevu rufomarginatus resembles M. telum sp. nov. from West Malaysia, but can be separated by its orange coloration of the facial carinae and fore tibiae, its smaller size, and the less developed lateral projections of the male pygofer.
