Alara improba Yang & Wu, 1993 View in CoL
Alara improba Yang & Wu, 1993: 186 View in CoL , Fig. 89
Etymology. As stated by the authors, the species name is a Latin adjective (improbus, -a, -um = not according to the standard).
Type material. Holotype ♂ (not examined), TAIWAN, Tapan , Chiayi Hsien, 19-VI-1988 ( NCHU).
Distribution. Taiwan.
Diagnosis. Alara improba shows similarities to A. laetanda Yang & Wu , also from Taiwan, and to A. quatei Zelazny from the Philippines. Based on the description and illustrations by Yang & Wu, it can be distinguished by the face being distinctly produced in front of the eyes, by the pattern of infuscations on the forewings (especially the infuscation around the end of the basal median cell and the middle of Cu), and by the male aedeagus lacking a clearly defined apical part.
