Alara laetanda Yang & Wu, 1993 View in CoL
Alara laetanda Yang & Wu, 1993: 184–186 View in CoL , Fig. 88
Etymology. As stated by the authors, the species name is a Latin adjective (laetandus, -a, -um = joyful).
Type material. Holotype ♂ (not examined), TAIWAN, Lalashan, Taipei Hsien , 25-VI-1988, S.C. Tsaur ( NCHU).
Distribution. Taiwan
Diagnosis. Alara laetanda shows similarities to A. improba Yang & Wu , also from Taiwan, and to A. quatei Zelazny from the Philippines. It can be distinguished by the face being distinctly produced in front of the antennae, by the forewings bearing small black marks (at the base of the first subcostal sector, along the basal half of M, at the basal median cell, and at the apex of Cu1), as well as by the dorsal processes of the male genital styles nearly merging, being only separated by a small gap with sclerotized margins.
