Bionomics. Cachan (1952) reported Acoloba lanceolata in great numbers in axiles of leaves of Pandanus (Pandanaceae) in Madagascar. Le Pelley (1959) and Poutouli (1992) listed it on sorghum (Sorghum vulgare) in Kenya and Togo, respectively. Here the species is recorded on Pandanus in Ivory Coast, Dracaena (Asparagaceae) in Malawi, and Dioscorea bulbifera (Dioscoreaceae) in Nigeria. All the mentioned plants are monocots.
Distribution. Angola (new record), Central African Republic (new record), Democratic Republic of the Congo ( Distant 1901, Bergroth & Schouteden 1905, Schouteden 1909a, Bergroth 1927), Ethiopia ( Lethierry 1881), Guinea ( Fabricius 1803, Thunberg 1823, Stål 1865; Kirkaldy 1909, no detail), Ivory Coast ( Schouteden 1963; Gillon 1972, 1974), Kenya ( Gerstäcker 1873, Jeannel 1913, Linnavuori 1982), Madagascar ( Jeannel 1913, Cachan 1952), Mozambique ( Montandon 1899), Nigeria ( Medler 1980, Linnavuori 1982), Republic of the Congo (Göllner- Scheiding 2012), South Africa ( Stål 1865, Distant 1892, 1898; Jeannel 1913; Leston 1952), Togo ( Poutouli 1992), Zambia (new record), Zimbabwe (new record); Yemen ( Linnavuori 1982, 1989).
