Protosticta new species cf kinabaluensis ;— Afendy et al. 2017: 3 (Crocker Range, Sabah).

Holotype. 1 ♂ (SAR05_PST31), second order tributary to stream with failed small scale hydroelectric dam (ca 3.752N, 115.443E), Bario , Kelabit Highlands, Miri Division, Sarawak, Malaysia, ca 1,070–1,120m a.s.l., 17 v 2005, leg. R. A. Dow; deposited at the Naturalis Biodiversity Center ( RMNH), Leiden, the Netherlands.

Etymology. joepani , a noun in the genitive case. Named after Pan Tshin Siong (born 5 th March 1950), an enthusiastic amateur naturalist and photographer of Odonata and other wildlife from Sabah, who uses the name Joe Pan for his social media posts concerning natural history.
