A new island record: one female reared by S. Alston-Smith from Inga sp. (Quinam, iii.1990). I have discussed the taxonomy of this species with S.R. Steinhauser (pers. comm. 2003). He considered it a good match to P. diversa (Williams and Bell) , which Evans (1953) and Mielke (2004) treat as a synonym of Polyctor fera Weeks. I therefore use the name P. f. fera here, but should the two names subsequently be shown to be different species, the Trinidad specimen is referable to P. diversa .
