Herbs, 20–70 cm tall. Branches green or vinaceous, cylindrical, costate. Leaves verticillate, sessile, discolorous, blades 7.2–9.8 × 1.5–3.5 mm, elliptical, chartaceous, glabrous, attenuate at base, acute at apex, entire at margin. Inflorescence in terminal biparous cyme, multiflora; peduncle 5.9 cm. Flowers homostylous, 5-merous, pedicel ca. 3 cm; calyx 0.3–4.3 × 0.1–1.6 mm, green to vinaceous, keeled, not winged, tubular, glabrous; corolla, yellowish, purplish or pink, tubular to campanulate, tube 0.9–2.3 × 1.0- 3 mm, lobes 3.3 × 0.8 mm, lanceolate to ovate, at apex acute; stamens ca. 3 mm, isodynamous, adnate, conation 1–1.5 mm, anthers basifixed; ovary 1.7–3.6 mm, style 0.7–3.4 mm, stigma bilobed. Fruit septicidal capsule.

Habitat and distribution:— Curtia verticillaris is endemic to Brazil and is distributed in the states of Bahia, Distrito Federal, Goiás and Minas Gerais ( Bissoli & Calió 2020), places that contains “campo rupestre” ( Crespo & Marcondes-Ferreira 2009, Siqueira et al. 2014, Bissoli & Calió 2020) ( Fig. 3C View FIGURE 3 , Appendix 1).

Comments:—Leaves of this species vary in height, color and size among the individuals. In addition, homostylous flowers of Curtia verticillaris differs from the tristylous flowers of Curtia tenuifolia , as mentioned above ( Siqueira et al. 2014). Can be found with flowers and fruits throughout the year ( Crespo & Marcondes-Ferreira 2009, Siqueira et al. 2014).
