Valid name: Chaerephon pumilus (Cretzschmar, 1830)
Syntypes: ZMB 537 View Materials , skin, and ZMB 85520 (old number = An 16355), skull, male, adult . ZMB 538 View Materials , skin, and ZMB 85519 (old number = An 16355), skull, female, adult . ZMB 539 View Materials , skin, skull not extracted, juvenile. All specimens from Sena, Mozambique; collected by W.C.H. Peters, between 1843 and 1847 .
Comment: A fourth specimen of limbatus, ZMB 2946 , is marked in the general catalogue with a type asterisk, however, since its origin being Zanzibar (purchased from Wessel) it cannot be a syntype. The BMNH holds one further syntype (1907.1.1.704). The original name is D. limbatus (Peters, 1852: 56) , not limbata as mentioned in Simmons (2005).
