Valid name: Vespertilio murinus Linnaeus, 1758
Holotype: ZMB 4233 View Materials , body in alcohol, skull extracted, male, adult; supposely from Mexico; collected by Kölliker.
Comment: Mehely (1900: 229 ff.) identified Vesperus (Marsipolaemus) albigularis Peters as Vespertilio murinus ; however, Vespertilio murinus does not exist in Mexico.
