Taxonomic notes
Zalessky (1928) described the family † Sialidopsidae – based on the single genus † Sialidopsis M.D. Zalesky, 1926 – which Martynov (1928) placed in the order Megaloptera . Here, we follow Prokop et al. (2015) in treating † Sialidopsis in the family † Permithonidae , and Engel et al. (2018) in treating † Permithonidae as Neuropterida incertae sedis. † Permithonidae currently contains>20 genera, of which only † Sialidopsis appears to have been previously placed in Megaloptera .
