Material examined. PAKISTAN, [Punjab,] Rawalpindi, xi. 1889 ( BMNH).

Remarks. This species was recorded in Pakistan from Karachi by Younus & Kamaluddin ( 2010). Hippotion rosetta has a similar distribution to H. boerhaviae , but has reached more offshore and oceanic islands (e.g. the Maldives, Cocos Islands, the Ryukyu Archipelago and Palau), although it has yet to be recorded from New Caledonia; it has also colonized Hawaii ( Pittaway & Kitching, 2013). Adults can only be reliably distinguished from H. boerhaviae by examination of the male genitalia; the larvae are more distinct.
