Artema doriae (Thorell, 1881) View in CoL View at ENA
Records: Basrah, Dhi Qar, Karbala, Salah Al-Din ( Al-Khazali & Najim 2018; Al-Abbad et al. 2019; Baker & Ali 2020 [sub Artema atlanta Walckenaer, 1837 View in CoL in the latter two; see “Comment”]).
Distribution: Turkey to Afghanistan, south to United Arab Emirates. Introduced to Japan.
Comment: The records of A. atlanta from Iraq by Al-Abbad et al. (2019) and Baker &Ali (2020) are herein attributed to A. doriae . The photo of the epigyne provided by Al-Abbad et al. (2019) perfectly matches those provided for A. doriae by Aharon et al. (2017), who mention in their revision of the genus that “ A. atlanta is almost entirely absent from the large area where congeneric species occur (Arabian Peninsula, Middle East, Central Asia).”
