Record: Unspecified ( Hassan 1950 [sub Chaetopelma shabati Hassan, 1950 View in CoL , a junior synonym of C. olivaceum View in CoL ]).
Distribution: Cyprus, Turkey, Sudan, Egypt, Middle East.
Comment: Although Hassan (1950) does not report any material of this species from Iraq, we decided to include it in the checklist as he briefly hints the presence of this species in this country: “…it is commonly known in Egypt by the name of ‘Abu-shabat’, and in Syria, Iraq, Transjordania, and Hedjaz by the name of ‘Shabath’.”
