13. Selenicereus undatus (Haw.) D.R.Hunt View in CoL , Cactaceae Syst. Init. 36: 35 (2017) ≡ Cereus undatus Haworth (1830: 110) = Hylocereus undatus (Haworth) Britton & Rose [ Britton (1918:256)].

Neotype (designated by Taylor 1995: 119): [icon] t. 1884 in Curtis (1817, image of the neotype available at: https://www.biodiversitylibrary. org/item/14328#page/67).

Notes:— We only saw this species in cultivation on Barbados and we encountered a sterile plant in a garden. The plant has 2–4 very short conical spines. This spine structure immediately distinguishes this species from S. plumieri and S. trigonus . A specimen deposited at BAR (barcode BAR1716) collected in August 8, 1990 by Carrington (collection number 1326) morphologically matches with our material. Maycock (1830) accepts two species of Selenicereus from Barbados and his Cereus triangularis is very likely to be this taxon based on the description of very short spines.

Specimens examined:— BARBADOS. 1915, Rose 43349 (NY); 8 August 1990, Carrington 1326 (BAR) .
