14. Flemingia kweichowensis Tang & F.T.Wang ex Y.T.Wei & S.K.Lee (1985: 165) View in CoL . Type :— CHINA. Guizhou, 24 November 1930, Y.Tsiang 7199 (Holotype, PE; isotype, A-00351656!) ( Figure 5 View FIGURE 5 )

Flemingia kradungensis Niyomdham (1992: 342) View in CoL . Type:— THAILAND. Loei: Ph Kradung National Park, Charoenphol et al. 4620 (Holotype, BKF; isotype, AAU!) ( Figure 6 View FIGURE 6 ) syn. nov.

Shrubs, erect, up to 1.5 m tall. Branchlets obviously ribbed, densely clothed with adpressed hairs. Petiole 2–4.5 cm long, narrowly winged, adpressed hairy; petiolules extremely short, 1–2 mm long, densely hairy. Stipules ovate-lanceolate, ca. 1.8–2 cm long, adpressed hairy, apex acuminate, caducous. Leaves digitately 3-foliolate; leaflets papery, subequal; terminal leaflet oblong to oblong-lanceolate, 6–11 cm long, 2–3.5 cm wide, adaxialy surface glabrous, abaxial surface with densely black sessile glands, glabrous or almost glabrous except for veins; basal veins 3, lateral veins pinnate, 7–9 pairs, base unequal, apex acuminate. Inflorescence racemose, axillary, branched at base; inflorescence axis 3–6 cm long, longer than the petiole, densely villous. Bracts lanceolate, 6–8 mm long, caducous. Flowers clustered; pedicel 3–5 mm long. Calyx with densely adpressed hairy; lobes linear-lanceolate, much longer than tube, densely covered with black glands, the lower one longest, ca. 1 cm long, the others shorter and sub-equal. Corolla yellowish green, petals subequal; standard oblong, ca. 7–9 mm long, base acuminate, auricles tooth-like; wings narrowly elliptic, long clawed, one with acute auricle; keel elliptic, slightly curved, wider than wings, long clawed, apex obtuse. Pods elliptic, purple, 8–9 mm long, 5–6 mm diam., pubescent, inflated, with dense black glands. Seeds 1 or 2, black, suborbicular, ca. 1–2 mm diam.

Ecology and phenology: — Flemingia kweichowensis grows in open mixed deciduous forest with pine trees or open, grassy, evergreen forest, along roadsides and disturbed slopes, at 900–1500 m elev. Flowering and fruiting from September to November.

Distribution: — China and Thailand.

Notes: — Niyomdham (1992) originally described F. kradungensis based on the specimens collected from northern Thailand (Khon Kaen and Loi provinces) ( Figure 6 View FIGURE 6 ). He mentioned that F. kradungensis is similar to F. macrophylla by the leaf-characters. Indeed, the former is clearly distinguished from the latter by the leaflet shape (narrowly elliptic vs. elliptic-ovate), the petiole (winged vs. not winged), the length of corolla (much shorter than the calyx vs. equalling or longer than the calyx), and the length of pod (equalling or included in the calyx vs. much longer than calyx). However, rencent examination on Flemingia species revealed that these morphological characters are mostly identical to those of F. kweichowensis , a previously known species from southern China ( Wei & Lee 1985) ( Table 2 & Figure 5 View FIGURE 5 ). Therefore, F. kradungensis is here considered as a new synonym of F. kweichowensis .

Flemingia kweichowensis resembles F. sootepensis Craib by sharing elliptic to lanceolate leaves and winged petiole, but clearly differs from the latter by the indumentum, shape and size of bract, calyx and pods.
