59. Theognete ludvigseni Anderson , new species ( Figures 27 , 164 , 199 , 232 )

Diagnosis. Size. Length, male, 3.82mm. Width, male, 2.14mm. As for T. tzotzil except pronotum with sparse, erect, apically recurved scales limited to anterolateral margins and two paramedian areas. Elytra with similar sparse scales linearly arranged along intervals; strial regions lacking vestiture; posterolateral area with pilose crease. Mesosternum with deep transverse pit-like, usually pilose, impression. Metasternum (in front of coxa) shelf-like, with impunctate crease under shelf. Male tergite VIII emarginate in middle. Aedeagus as in Fig. 199 .

Geographical distribution. México (Oaxaca).

Natural history. Collected from berlese extraction of cloud forest leaf litter at an elevation of 1200m.

Derivation of specific name. Through her support of the Nature Discovery Fund at the Canadian Museum of Nature, this species is named after Aari Ludvigsen of New York, New York, as a gift from Barbara Gaines.

Material examined. 1♂ ( CMNC). Holotype ♂ ( CMNC): MÉXICO: Oaxaca. 15 mi. S. Valle Nacional , 4000', 21.V.1971, S. Peck, Ber 204 leaf litter / HOLOTYPE ♂, Theognete ludvigseni sp. nov. R.S. Anderson. Aedeagus extracted.

Chorological relationships. Sympatric with T. humilis , T. lutulenta , T. desautelsi , T. peckorum and T. dansereaui .
