Diagnosis. Size. Length, male, 3.43mm; female, 3.15mm. Width, male, 2.14mm; female, 2.02mm. As for T. striatifemur except femora with striations shallow and indistinct. Aedeagus as in Fig. 35 View FIGURES 35–37 .

Geographical distribution. México (Tamaulipas).

Natural history. Collected from berlese extraction of leaf litter and from under Quercus bark in a mixed hardwood forest at elevations of 1375–1400m.

Derivation of specific name. Named after the collector of both specimens, Peter Kovarik of Columbus, Ohio.

Material examined. 1♂, 1♀ ( CMNC). Holotype ♂ ( CMNC): MÉXICO: Tamaulipas. Municipio Gómez Farías, La Gloria, 1400m., 17–III-1988 P. Kovarik / collected Under Quercus bark / mesophytic forest Quercus, Liquidambar, Magnolia, Acer, Carya, Podocarpus , etc/ HOLOTYPE ♂, Theognete kovariki sp. nov. R.S. Anderson. Aedeagus extracted. Paratype: MÉXICO: Tamaulipas. Municipio Gómez Farías, 4500', 16.III.1988, Kovarik (San Jose). (1♀ CMNC).

Chorological relationships. Sympatric with T. echinata ; possibly parapatric with T. striatifemur .
