Type locality. Lagoa do Patos , São LourenÇo do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul, State Brazil .

Distribution. Known from Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay, ( Plt. 205A View Plate 205 ). Recorded in Pampas Grasslands, Araucaria Forest and Atlantic Forest, with marginal records in the Cerrado and Chaco ( Plt. 205A View Plate 205 ), from low to high elevations ( Plt. 205B View Plate 205 ). Observed in the field in grassland and savanna ( Arzamendia and Giraudo, 2002; Bérnils, 2009; Ghizoni-Jr. et al., 2009).
