Type locality. Rio de Janeiro , state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil .

Distribution. Widespread in South America, known from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, French Guiana, Paraguay, Suriname, and Venezuela ( Plt. 140A View Plate 140 ). In Brazil, widespread in Atlantic Forest and Cerrado, with records also in the Pantanal, Chiquitano Dry Forest, Caatinga, Amazonia, the Guianan savannas, and Pampas Grasslands ( Plt. 140A View Plate 140 ) from low to high elevations ( Plt. 140B View Plate 140 ). Taxonomy follows Montingelli et al. (2019). Observed in the field in grassland, savanna, forests, and disturbed areas ( Cunha and Nascimento, 1993; Valdujo et al., 2009; Leite et al., 2007).
