Philodryas viridissima ( Linnaeus, 1758)

Type locality. Suriname .

Distribution. Known from Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela, mostly in Amazonia ( Plt. 307A View Plate 307 ). In Brazil, widespread in Amazonia, with marginal records in the Cerrado,Caatinga and Chiquitano Dry Forest, and a single isolated record in the Atlantic Forest of Bahia ( Plt. 307A View Plate 307 ), at low elevations ( Plt. 307B View Plate 307 ). Observed in the field in forest ( Cunha and Nascimento, 1993; Martins and Oliveira, 1998).
