Diagnosis. Tubercle on vertex low, divided into two lobes by a narrow groove at middle. Occiput covered with dense black bristles. Antenna 13-segmented, reaching base of wing if bent backward. Prescutum and presutural scutum with one narrow grey stripe at middle. Gonocoxite elongated into a horn-like lobe which has up-turned apex. Posterior margin of tergite 9 divided into two setose lobes; inner margin of each lobe bears two sclerotized protrusions. Apex of sternite 9 with setose foot-like protrusions. Adminiculum point-apexed. Clasper of gonostylus approximately triangular with strongly sclerotized groove along concavity; a semicircular basal lobe produced with staggered setae. Female: posterior margin of hypovalva short and broad, with pointed triangular apex.

Description. Male (N= 3): body length 16–17 mm, wing length 17–20 mm, antenna length 4–5 mm.
Head. Mostly dull brown. Vertex with some dark bristles along eye margin. Tubercle on vertex divided into two lobes by a narrow groove at middle. Occiput covered with dense black bristles ( Fig. 41 View FIGURES 40–42 ). Rostrum and nasus brown. Antenna 13-segmented, reaching base of wing if bent backward; scape and pedicel dull brown; first flagellomere yellowish-brown, remaining segments dark brown ( Fig. 40 View FIGURES 40–42 ). Palpus dark brown.
Thorax. Mostly dull brown. Pronotum dull yellow. Prescutum and presutural scutum with four greyish-brown stripes bearing narrow dark brown margins; one narrow grey interval at middle. Scutal lobe with two circular brown spots. Scutellum yellow with one broad dark brown median stripe. Mediotergite grey pruinose with one narrow brown stripe at middle ( Fig. 41 View FIGURES 40–42 ). Mesopleuron entirely yellow pruinose ( Fig. 40 View FIGURES 40–42 ). Legs with coxae and trochanters yellow pruinose and setose; femora dark brown with yellow bases; tibiae and tarsi dark brown. Wing whitish subhyaline, variegated with dark brown; costal and subcostal cells pale brown; stigma dark brown; dark brown marking along fork of Rs to cross vein r -m; whitish area forming a large C-shaped marking at bases of cells r 1+2, r 3, r 4, r 5, d and m 3; whitish spots at base of Rs and apex of bm; an oblique whitish marking at base of veins R, M, CuA and CuP ( Fig. 42 View FIGURES 40–42 ). Halter with stem yellow, knob pale yellow to dark brown.
Abdomen. Basal abdominal segments dull brown. Abdominal segments 5–8 dark brown ( Fig. 40 View FIGURES 40–42 ). Hypopygium mostly blackish. Setae on abdomen blackish or dull yellow.
Hypopygium. Posterior margin of tergite 9 divided into two setose lobes; inner margin of each lobe bears two sclerotized protrusions which have foot-like inner protrusion and finger-like outer protrusion ( Fig. 44 View FIGURES 43–46 ). Tergite 9 and sternite 9 fused into a continuous ring ( Fig. 43 View FIGURES 43–46 ). Gonocoxite elongated into a horn-like lobe which has up-turned apex ( Figs 43, 45 View FIGURES 43–46 ). Apex of sternite 9 with setose foot-like protrusions ( Fig. 45 View FIGURES 43–46 ). Adminiculum with pointed apex ( Fig. 45 View FIGURES 43–46 ). Lobe of gonostylus rod-shaped and setose ( Fig. 46 View FIGURES 43–46 ). Clasper of gonostylus approximately triangular; beak obtuse; a semicircular basal lobe produced with staggered setae; sclerotized groove bears numerous long bristles along concavity; dorsal crest with numerous long bristles ( Fig. 46 View FIGURES 43–46 ).
Semen pump. Brown. Posterior immovable apodeme (pia) rod-shaped and directed backward ( Figs 47–49 View FIGURES 47–53 ); compressor apodeme (ca) large, fan-shaped, directed downwards, forming a 50° angle with posterior immovable apodeme ( Fig. 49 View FIGURES 47–53 ); anterior immovable apodeme (aia) triangular, point-apexed, narrower than compressor apodeme ( Figs 47, 48 View FIGURES 47–53 ).

Elevation range in China. Adults were collected at altitudes ranging from 2000 m to 2500 m.
Period of activity. Adults were collected only in late July.
Distribution. China (Shaanxi, Sichuan).
Etymology. The species is named “ shaanxiana ” after the type locality Shaanxi.
Remarks. This new species is similar to T. (V.) adungensis Alexander, 1963 in the shape of tergite 9, lobe and clasper of gonostylus. It can be separated from the latter by following features: posterior margin of tergite 9 with a broad notch; posterior margin of tergite 9 with four protrusions; clasper of gonostylus with an obtuse beak., the posterior margin of tergite 9 has a narrow notch in T. (V.) adungensis ; the posterior margin of tergite 9 has two protrusions; the clasper of gonostylus has a sharp beak ( Alexander, 1963).
