Female. Body length 2.5–3.1 mm; fore wing length 2.6–3.1 mm

Head. Smooth and polished, with scattered setae; 1.15–1.21x wider than mesoscutum. Face 1.5–1.7x broader than long; mostly smooth and polished but weakly rugose centrally. Clypeus 2.3–3.3x broader than long. Malar space 0.4x eye height in frontal view. In lateral view, eyes 1.0–1.4x as long as temple. Maximum width of lateral ocellus 0.32–0.46x ocell-ocular distance. Antenna as long as fore wing, 25–26 segmented; first flagellomere 3.9– 4.4x longer than wide.

Mesosoma . 1.65–1.76x longer than high. Mesonotum 1.3–1.4x longer than width of mesoscutum. Pronotum dorsally with crenulate sulcus and distinct mid-longitudinal carina anteriorly, posteriorly weakly rugose with arched carina enclosing a crescent moon shaped area; about 0.7–0.8x longer than vertex, the posterior region slightly longer than anterior region; laterally smooth, pronotal groove crenulate anteriorly and posteriorly, smooth medially, scattered setae along posterior and ventral margin. Mesonotum smooth and polished; mesoscutum with scattered setae anteriorly and posteriorly around midpit, scutellum scattered setae along margin; notauli crenulate dorsally, about 0.33–0.37x length of mesonotum; mid pit more or less elliptical, 0.27–0.33x length of mesonotum; scutellum 1.0–1.2x longer than wide, smooth and polished; scutellar sulcus 0.28–0.37x longer than wide, with one median carina and crenulate; mesoscutellar trough costate. Metanotum without median carina, median region rugose at posterior apex; laterally rugose to costate, with scattered setae. Mesopleuron with scattered setae concentrated on anterior corner and ventrally; sternaulus crenulate; anterior corner of mesopleuron weakly rugose. Epicnemial carina present ventrally, incomplete. Metapleuron ventrally rugose, with long and scattered setae.

Propodeum virtually smooth to rugose; areola roughly pentagonal, with distinct cross-bridge and two pairs of transverse lateral carinae. Hind coxa 1.6–1.8x longer than wide, 0.7–0.9x as long as metasomal TI. Hind tarsal claws with distinct basal lobe.

Wings. Fore wing. Stigma 3.3–4.2x longer than broad; vein r arising from middle of stigma. Vein r 0.46–0.56x longer than vein 3 RSa. Vein 2RS straight to weakly sinuate, 0.93–1.07x longer than 3 RSa.Vein 3 RSa 0.44–0.51x vein 3RSb and 1.53–1.79x as long as vein r-m. Vein 1Cub 1.5–1.9x vein 1CUa. Vein (RS+M)b distinct, not pigmented. Vein 1-1AC 0.25–0.35x longer than vein 2-1A. Hind wing. Vein M+CU 2.35–2.64x longer than 1M. Vein cu-a 0.65–0.82x as long as 1M. Vein r-m 0.6–0.8x as long as 1M.

Metasoma. TI 0.9–1.0x as long as apical width; rugose with smooth latero-apical region; dorsal carinae converging but not meeting; dorsope deep and large. Metasoma beyond petiole weakly sclerotized; TII about 1.6– 1.7x longer than TIII. Ovipositor straight, about 0.9x as long as hind tibia; ovipositor sheaths about 0.7x longer than ovipositor.

Color. Orange-brown to honey yellow; antenna, head, propodeum, metapleuron and TI dark brown; metasoma beyond petiole light brown; legs honey yellow. Wings hyaline, veins light brown, and stigma whitish.

Male. Unknown.

Biology. Unknown

Comments. A. chilensis sp. n. has a prominent basal lobe on tarsal claws like A. whartoni Whitfield & Choi. A. chilensis sp. n. differs from A. whartoni by the straight ovipositor, which is curved in A. whartoni , and presence of roughly pentagonal areola on propodeum, which is absent in A. whartoni . This species presents some rugosity medially on the face, being smooth in all other species of Andesipolis .

Distribution. Chile, Osorno Province.

Etymology. The species is named after its country of occurrence.

Type material. Holotype, female ( CNC). “ CHILE: Osorno Prov. / Parque Nac. Puyehue / 4.1 km E Anticura, / 430 m, 19–26.XII.1982 / A. Newton & M. Thayer ”.
