Diagnosis: This species is very similar to A. semiirrorella ( Hampson, 1896) but can be distinguished by the slender and weakly sclerotized juxta, bearing only one seta at the apex of the lateral lobes; the deep sinus at the apex of the valva, with the upper angle aquiline; and the small sharp horn at about 3/5 length of the sacculus. In A. semiirrorella the juxta is broader and well sclerotized, bearing several setae at the apex; the apex of the valva has a shallow sinus and its upper angle is blunt; and the sacculus has a larger sharp horn at about 2/3.

Description. Wingspan 17.5–23.0 mm. Vertex rough, with blackish scales. Male antenna sinus with long black scales, shaft with numerous cilia, shorter than width at midsinus. Labial palpus upturned with appressed scales, first segment white, second and third blackish brown; third segment about 2/3 length of second in male and almost equal length in female. Maxillary palpus with blackish scales. Thorax and tegula reddish brown. Forewing ground color brownish gray, with black and ocherous brown scales basally; antemedian line black, weakly oblique outward; a round, blackish brown mark near dorsum adjacent to antemedian line, inner margin of mark edged by erect ocherous brown or reddish brown scales; costa grayish white between basal and postmedian lines, forming a large triangular white patch; a large fuscous spot situated at basal 1/3, its inside sometimes with two distinct ocherous brown dots formed by erect ocherous brown scales; discal spots round and black, conspicuously separated; postmedian line sinuate, white; cilia grayish brown. Hindwing grayish brown, distal half moreorless darker than basal half; cilia grayish brown. Foreleg blackish brown; midleg and hindleg with femora and tibiae reddish brown on outer surface, yellowish white on inner surface, tarsi and spurs yellowish brown; inner spurs 1.5 times length of outer ones. Anal tuft of male black.

Male genitalia ( Figs. 5–8 View FIGURES 5 – 9 ). Uncus broadly tongueshaped, with sparse hairs, slightly concave at apex; sclerotized plate from base of lateral side reaching half way to tip of uncus. Gnathos with apex sharp, hooklike, about 3/4 length of uncus. Valva strongly sclerotized, length 2.5 times width; apex concave, forming a semielliptic sinus and aquiline upper angle; clasper short, knoblike, situated at basal 1/3 of valva near costa and bearing long hairs at apex. Costa slightly protuberant at 1/3; sacculus strongly sclerotized, with sharp, well sclerotized horn at about 3/5, terminally acuminate, extending slightly beyond valva. Juxta approximately 1/2 length of gnathos, small and slender, somewhat Vshaped, with membranous base and weakly sclerotized lateral lobes; lateral lobes with only one seta at apex. Aedeagus about same length as valva; basal half with a sclerotized plate consisting of many sclerotized folds; terminal half with many sclerotized folds. Culcita as in Fig. 7 View FIGURES 5 – 9 .

Female genitalia ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 5 – 9 ). 8th sternite with posterior margin strongly concave. Lamella postvaginalis a narrow traverse bar, lamella antevaginalis weakly sclerotized. Ductus bursae about same length as apophyses, basal 1/2 to terminal 5/6 sclerotized.

Corpus bursae length two times width, inner side with many minute scobinations, sclerotized granules in posterior half. Signum hooklike, strongly sclerotized.

Etymology: The specific name is derived from the Latin prefix longi (long) and the Latin lepiger (scale), referring to the long scales on the sinus of the male antenna.
