Scutacarus longitarsus sphaeroideus Karafiat, 1959: 679 , fig. 23.

This cosmopolitan species inhabits wet soil and is phoretic on the staphylinid beetles Stenus ruralis Erichson View in CoL , S. bipunctatus Erichson View in CoL and Carpelimus fuliginosus (Gravenhorst) View in CoL ( Karafiat 1959; Khaustov 2008). During this study we recorded phoresy of S. sphaeroideus on Heteroceridae View in CoL for the first time.

Material examined. One female, KAZAKHSTAN: Aktyubinsk Province, Bezhetsk region , vicinity of settlement Emba , N 48°38'38.7”, E 057°54'58”, on Heterocerus fenestratus , 25 April 2012, coll. A.V. Ivanov GoogleMaps ; four females, same locality and date, on H. flexuosus GoogleMaps ; 1 female RUSSIA: Astrakhan Province, Yenotayevsk region, settlement Zamyany , in light trap, on H. fenestratus , 16 September 2007, coll. О.G. Brekhov ; one female, same locality and date, on Augyles hispidulus .
