Refs.: Hering, 1941: 144 (in key), 145 (comm.); Aczél, 1950a: 245 (cat.); Aczél, 1955a: 332 (in key), 381 (redesc.); Aczél, 1955b: 161 (in key); Foote, 1967: 47 (cat.); Norrbom et al., 1999b: 227 (cat.). Comm.: Tomoplagia pleuralis is a new record for Colombia, based on one male specimen collected in 1914 (unspecified locality) by H.A. Parish. The specimen was identified by Martín Aczél and deposited at the National Museum of Natural History, Washington, DC (USNM) (USNMENT00051053).
